Bauchi governor declares Monday public holiday for PVC registration

By Charly Agwam – Bauchi

Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed has declared, Monday, 27th June, 2022, as a state-wide public holiday to enable adults who have attained the age of 18 and beyond to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration.

In a statement shared on Thursday by the governor’s Special Adviser, Mukhtar Gidado, he said that the governor was worried by voter apathy during elections.

“His Excellency, Sen. Bala A. Mohammed CON, Fnipr (Kauran Bauchi), the Executive Governor of Bauchi State has declared Monday, 27th June, 2022 as a state-wide public holiday.

“This is to enable citizens of the State who have attained the age of 18 years after the 2019 General Elections or lost their Permanent Voters Card or even changed their location to take advantage of the ongoing INEC Continuous Voters Registration Exercise and obtain their Permanent Voters Card (PVCs).

“Governor Mohammed equally expressed serious concern on the low turn-out of eligible voters and has therefore directed all Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Board Chairmen, Director- General, Executive Secretaries, Permanent Secretaries, and other public office holders to proceed to their respective electoral wards to mobilize eligible registrants to come out en-mass and register,” he said.
