2023: Coalition of northern youths rally support for Emefiele

A coalition of 40 northern youth groups under the umbrella of Unified Northern Nigeria Youths Forum (UNNYF) have called on the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele to contest for the coveted position of president the nation in 2023 general elections.


Spokesman of the group, Ali Sani told newsmen in Bauchi on Tuesday that Emefiele is best man suited for the job because he is an economist with vast experience from the South South, and he is also an Igbo man. 


“We are here to continue our consultation for a seasoned economist, a private sector player, a pan Nigerian and Igbo man from the South-South extraction, Godwin Emefiele who is the tenth indigenous Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. We want urge him to aspire for the highest office in the country. 


“If it is peace and progress we want in our dear country, there is no better man for the job than Godwin Emefiele. His vast experience, wealth of knowledge and commitment speak volumes for him. We know we can trust him because we have tested and tried him and his is very reliable,” he said. 


Meanwhile, the Bauchi State Coordinator of the group, Anas Ahmad extolled the CBN governor for his empowerment programmes which Bauchi State indigenes have benefited from. 


“His achievements here in Bauchi have already introduced him to us and now that you are here, please note that, Dr. Godwin Emefiele is fully accepted here in Bauchi State because of his numerous intervention Programmes.


“The establishment of NIRSAL Northeast Headquarters in Bauchi, makes it easy for a lot for our teaming young entrepreneurs and small business owners to access loans and finance their businesses. Over 20,000 rice farmers have benefited from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Anchor Borrowers Programme in Bauchi State.


“Under Dr. Emefiele’s watch CBN offered N5.7bn loan to 10,000 Bauchi State vegetable farmers. 225,000 Bauchi Farmers are Benefiting from NIRSAL’s New Field Structure. 15,000 Bauchi State wheat farmers benefited from CBN’s Intervention. And thousands of Bauchi State Youths have benefited from the COVID-19 loan which enabled them to revive their business,” he noted.
