New Kaduna Police Commissioner Resumes duty, Tours Kaduna-Abuja Highway

 

 

Sequel to the directive of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman psc, fdc and subsequent posting of new Commissioners of Police to some Commands in the federation, Kaduna Command inclusive, the new Commissioner of Police posted to Kaduna has on Friday April 8, 2022, assumed responsibility as the 40th Commissioner of Police to serve in Kaduna Command in this capacity.

 

A statement by the Police Public Relatons Officer (PPRO), ASP Mohammed Jalige, said that immediately after taking over mantle of leadership from the immediate past Commissioner of Police, CP Mudassiru Abdullahi psc (+) (rtd), the hardworking CP Yekini knowing the gravity of task ahead of him, immediately took his first official tour to Kaduna – Abuja road with a view to restoring public confidence and assuring them of their safety throughout the state.

 

He also visited the scene of the infamous incident of the attack on Abuja – Kaduna bound train to appreciate the sacrifices of our gallant Officers, empathize with the victims and see the area of improvement to forestall future occurrence.

The CP equally tasked Officers and men to get themselves ready for the task ahead as there is no room for laxity under his watch and criminals must not be allowed a free operating space wherever they may be.

 

The CP beckoned on the good people of the state to extend their good hands of fellowship to his administration as the task is not a one man show. With the collective efforts of all stakeholders the task though enormous is absolutely surmountable.

The new Police head called for synergy amongst all the security architectures in the State as his doors remain always open to all and sundry in his quest to reduce violent crime to the barest minimum.

 

The Commissioner of Police (CP) Yekini A Ayoku hails from Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State. An alumnus of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State CP Ayoku was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in March 1990 and had his Cadet Officers’ training at the Police Academy Annex, Kaduna.

He has held several operational, investigative and administrative positions in the Force since his passing out from the Academy and commissioning as an Officer in October 1991.

 

His first posting was to Abia State Police Command where he served in various capacities including Divisional Crime Officer (DCO), Central Police Station (CPS) Umuahia and Aba; Area Crime Officer, Area Command, Aba; Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Abriba; Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the CP, Abia State Police Command; and Officer in Charge (O/C) Anti-Vice Section, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Umuahia.

In 1999, he was mobilized into the Police Mobile Force (PMF) and deployed to the State House Villa, Abuja as Second in Command (2i/c) 24 PMF squadron, Presidential Guard and Escort and later the Commanding Officer of the said squadron.

 

Other appointments held are: member of Nigeria Police Contingent to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK); 2i/c Inspector General of Police (IGP) Monitoring Unit, Force Headquarters (FHQ), Abuja; Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) SCID Panti, Yaba-Lagos; ACP Administration, Nasarawa State Command; Area Commander, Area ‘N’ Ijede Ikorodu, Lagos; ACP SCID, Akure, Ondo State; Director, Central Planning and Training Unit (CPTU), Police Staff College, Jos; and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Department of Finance and Administration (DFA)/2ic, Akwa Ibom and Ebonyi States Police Commands respectively.

 

He also served in the same capacity at Zone 6 Police Headquarters Calabar, Cross River State. Promoted to the rank of CP in July 2020, he is a distinguished member of the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru-Jos.

CP Ayoku had attended many other professional and capacity building courses and workshops, notably Leadership and Citizenship Training; Squadron Commanders’ Combat Operation Course; Promotion Courses; Strategic Leadership and Command Course; as well as Higher and Results-Oriented Management Course of the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Lagos.

 

The CP is privileged to have been a recipient of several awards and commendations for outstanding performance notable among them are; Inspector General of Police sword of honor as the all-round best Cadet Officer of ASP Course 16/1990 at Police Academy Annex, Kaduna, he was also privileged to be decorated with United Nations Medal for Service in Kosovo and finally a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).

Going by his pedigree, the CP has zero tolerance for dereliction of duty and warned his entire subordinates to desist from any form of malfeasance as stiffer sanction awaits whoever is found wanting.

 

Nevertheless, there is going to be handsome rewards for outstanding performances, professionalism and honesty in the discharge of one’s statutory responsibility.

 

CP Ayoku is happily married and blessed with children.

 

His hobbies are reading, travelling, listening to music, man-watching and engaging in body fitness exercises.
