Bauchi govt discovers 404 marketers, architects, others in state judiciary payroll
By Charly Agwam – Bauchi
The Bauchi State government said it has discovered and redeployed over 404 marketers, architects, others in state judiciary payroll. The non-judicial trained staff in the Judiciary were moved to other ministries and agencies in the State where they can serve in their professional capacity.
Chief Registrar of the Bauchi State High Court, Subilim Danjuma made this known in Bauchi on Tuesday while addressing journalists, said that the Judiciary was overstaffed because of inappropriate employment and posting of staff from other professions.
“The Governor of Bauchi State has approved the deployment of 404 staff of the Bauchi State High Court of Justice to other Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
“This exercise started in 2016 by the administration of former Governor M. A. Abubakar wherein he mooted the idea of putting square pegs in square holes, especially in the judiciary.

“During the course of the exercise it was discovered that the Judiciary is staffed with Petro-chemical Engineers, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineers, Architects, Mass Communication professionals, Laboratory Technologist, Quantity Surveyors, Community Health Officers and many more.
“All of these courses have no place in the judiciary. Even the social science courses like Accounting, Public Administration, National Certificate of Education or Barchelor in Education, Marketing et al have some limitations, in that, most of the heads of these offices are being manned by control staff,” he said.
Danjuma further said that the redeployment was done in good fate to allow them perform better and grow in ministries and agencies that suit their professions.
“By implication any person with any of this qualifications cannot rise above GL 14 in the judiciary but has the potential of rising to the position of a Director or even Permanent Secretary in the relevant Ministry. This is the raison d’etre that prompted our friendly Governor to immediately approve the deployment of the 404 staff now being carried out by the Office of the Head Of Civil Service.
“We need to disabuse the mind of those judiaciary staff affected that the deployment has nothing to do with termination of appointment nor does it connote a demotion in any way. The public should note that we are not employing staff as we are not in a position to do so.
“The Management of the High Court is keenly following the process and will ensure the protection of all redeployed judiciary staff interest. The list submitted and approved by HE was drawn up in 2019 and it is the working list that is being used for the exercise. This is an exercise that is in the best interest of the staff affected and also for the development of Bauchi State.
“We call on the judiciary staff affected to remain calm as the Management will ensure that each and every staff is treated fairly as the exercise is devold of any sentiment whatsoever,” he added.
On his part, the Chairman of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, Mohammed Salisu assured his members that the union is keenly following the process to ensure that no one will be victimized in the redeployment exercise.https://tribuneonlineng.com/nuhu-wabi-appointed-as-new-emir-of-jamaare/
