Bauchi police list achievements for 2022 as Commissioner pledges to stamp out crime

The Bauchi State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police CP Aminu Alhassan has said that it wishes to update the general public on the successes recorded in the year 2022 by the Command in the area of crime prevention and detection during the period under review.

According to a statement made available to newsmen in Bauchi on Friday, the Commissioner of Police Bauchi State, CP Aminu Alhassan through PPRO of the Command, said it is evident that there’s decline in all categories of offenses reported during the period under review.

“The Command’s commitment to ensure the safety of lives and property, citizens and residents within the State has intensified 24/7 round the clock; Patrols, guards duty and raids of identified black spots with a view to effectively checkmate crime and criminalities in the State.

“Subsequently, the Command has put in place proactive measures through robust synergy with relevant stakeholders, inter-agency collaboration, and visibility policing. Also, sustained effort was put emplace with the necessary valves to comprehensively secure all critical infrastructures across the length and breadth of the state including but not limited to INEC facilities.

“Achievements recorded within the period under review:

The Command within the period under review, recorded seven hundred and twenty-four (724) cases and arrested over one thousand four hundred and sixty-five (1465) suspects in connection to various crimes committed within and outside the State.

“The summary of major achievements recorded is hereby synopsized.

The Command has recorded eighty-one (81) cases of Culpable Homicide; one hundred and eighty-four (184) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. ninety (90) cases of Armed Robbery, two hundred and nine (209) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Nineteen (19) cases of Attempted Murder, forty-one (41) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

“One hundred and six (106) cases of Rape, one hundred and twenty-nine (129) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. sixty (60) cases of Kidnapping, one hundred and fifty-seven (157) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Thirteen (13) cases of Unnatural Offence, fifteen (15) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

“Twenty-seven (27) cases of Grievous Hurt, sixty-three (63) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Five (5) cases of Assault, eight (8) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Thirty-five (35) cases of Theft, one hundred and thirty-three (133) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. One hundred and fifty-two (152) cases of False pretense/cheating, two hundred and five (205) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Seven (7) cases of Forgery, nine (9) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. eight (8) cases of receiving stolen property, seventeen (17) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Eleven (11) cases of Unlawful possession, one hundred and five (105) suspects were arrested. Four (4) cases of Forgery of currency notes, four (4) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

“Two (2) cases of Arson/mischief, seven (7) suspects were arrested in connection with the case. four (4) cases of Breach of public peace, seven (7) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Eleven (11) cases of Offence against Firearms, fifteen (15) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Two (2) cases of Narcotics, five (5) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Fifty-six (56) cases of other offenses against persons, one hundred and twenty-one (121) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Twenty-six (26) cases of other offenses against properties, fifty (50) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

“Consequently, the Command during operations rescued fifty-three (53) kidnapped victims from the kidnappers. Moreover, three different hideouts of the kidnappers were destroyed and neutralized twelve (12) as a result of the gun duel.

One (1) AK-47 rifle
Two (2) assault rifles
Eight (8) live ammunition
One (1) pistol revolver with five (5) rounds of ammunition
Eight (8) different phones
One (1) locally-made pistol revolver
Thirteen (13) Den guns
Nine (9) Fabricated revolver
One (1) single barrel
One (1) double barrel
Twenty-three (23) live cartridges
Fourteen (14) Motorcycles
Five (5) Laptops
Fifty-two (52) different handsets
Thirty-one (31) ATM cards of different Bank

Recovered Vehicles

Eight (8) different models of Vehicle

Monetary recovered exhibits

Sixteen million six hundred and fifty-nine thousand naira (N16,659,000:00k).
Twenty-nine (29) pieces of CEFA France currency suspected to be counterfeit.
Two hundred and thirty-four (234) pieces of 1000 naira note denomination Nigerian currency suspected to be counterfeit.
Three thousand, five hundred and ninety (3,590) pieces of $100 Dollar suspected to be counterfeit currency.

It is pertinent to emphasize here these aforementioned successes were made possible through information availed to the Police from members of the public, who as partners in progress with the Nigeria Police share our desires and aspirations to enable a safe and secure environment for all residents in the State,” the statement reads

He added that the Command has put in place crime preventive measures which include visibility policing, community partnership, constant raids of black spots, regular foot and vehicular patrols, surveillance on buildings and vulnerable areas, stop and search, and intelligence-led policing through partnership with sisters’ security agencies and other non-governmental organizations in order to nip in the bud, all forms of crime/criminals and their hideouts in the state.

“Finally, the Command is fully prepared and ready for the year 2023 as more strategies will be put in place to ensure the security of lives and property. As we navigate towards the shores of the 2023 General Election and beyond, Bauchi State Police Command once again appeal to the Political stakeholders and their party loyalist to be guided by the dictates of the Electoral Act 2022 and other relevant Laws of the Land while shining actions inimical to the peaceful ambiance enjoying by the residents in Bauchi State,” he further noted.
