
‘Buhari has alleviated our poverty’ – NSIP beneficiaries

Beneficiaries of the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) from the Bauchi State have hailed President Muhammadu Buhari over the programme which they said has empowered them to be self reliant.
Leader of the beneficiaries and State Coordinator of Independent Monitors, Mubarak Limanci said this on Wednesday after the presidential flag off campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi.
Limanci said that the programme has salvaged beneficiaries from abject poverty and even made some them employers of labour.
He noted that there are several categories of beneficiaries of the programme under the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development supervised by the Minister, Sadiya Umar Farouq.
Limanci categorized the beneficiaries under the NSIP components namely N-Power, Conditional Cash Transfer, and Independent Monitors, among others in which he said millions of youths and women from the six geo-political zones benefitted.
“This government has done a lot. In the last six or seven years, a lot of us have been empowered through several programmes under the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development. Many of the beneficiaries are running their businesses through these empowerment.
“Although there are few beneficiaries of the N-Power that were unable to enjoy their monthly allowances due to some issues with their BVN, others have moved to the next level through the initiative,” he said.
On his part, the National Coordinator of Social Investment Programmes (NSIP), Dr. Umar Buba Bindir commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment and support toward ensuring the success of the programme.
Bindir noted that thousands of the NSIP beneficiaries seized the opportunity of Buhari’s visit to converged to expressed their appreciations to the President for the benefits derivable from the programme.
The national coordinator urged the APC presidential candidate to ensure its sustainability if he eventually assumes the mantle of leadership of the country.
