Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has urged traditional rulers to not involve themselves in partisan politics, saying that doing such will negate their role as royal fathers.
The Governor gave the charge on Monday during a campaign visit to Dogon Jeji where he met the District Head, Alh Ahmed Jarma who received him at his Palace.
“We will not interfere or try to manipulate the electoral process in any way. If any politician come here to seek for your blessings and advice, please receive him because you are a father to all. Give all of them your blessings and don’t discriminate against anyone.
“We are here today to seek for your advice and prayers as well as all the traditional leaders here, because you are the custodian of the people’s culture and are close to the people of the grassroot.
“We are also grateful for the support you have been giving my administration so far. We have kept our promise to the people so far by executing so many laudable projects and empowerment programmes that have direct bearing on the lives of the masses,” the governor said.
While appealing to the District Head for support and prayers, the Governor called on the people to ensure that they get their PVCs and vote the right candidates during the election.
Responding, the District Head of Dogon Jeji, Ahmed Jarma commended the governor for awarding numerous road projects which he said has impacted positively on the lives of his subjects.
He wished the governor at the polls and appealed for more dividend of democracy in the State.
