Isa Mustapha Agwai Poly (IMAP) Courses: NBTE approves new courses, other courses pending approval.

In a press release by Authorities of Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia on Wednesday, 2 February, 2022. Twenty (20)  courses were submitted to the National Board For Technical Education (NBTE) for Accreditation. The details of Accreditation required involves application for the grant of full Accreditation of existing Programmes (courses), Resource Inspection to commence new Programmes and Verification of staffing and equipment status.

It will be recalled that the Accreditation Visitation team conducted an exercise in the Polytechnic between 6th-10th December, 2021.

GRANT OF ACCREDITATION TO COURSES AT ISA MUSTAPHA AGWAI POLY

The Board has granted full Accreditation for 5 years to the Institution for the following Programmes with effect from 2021/2022 session as follows:

  1. HND Business Administration and Management
  2. HND Public Administration
  3. HND Accountancy
  4. ND Social Development
  5. ND Statistics
  6. HND Leisure and Tourism
  7. HND Science Laboratory Technology/Microbiology option
  8. HND Hospitality Management
  9. ND Library and Information Science
  10. ND Mass Communication
  11. HND Urban and Regional Planning

The Board has granted Interim Accreditation for 1 year to the Institution for the following Programmes with effect from 2021/2022 session subject to Verification Visitation for full Accreditation as follows:

  1. ND Architectural Technology
  2. HND Estate Management and Valuation

GRANT OF APPROVAL TO COMMENCE COURSES IN IMAP

The Board has granted approval to the Institution to offer the following Programmes with specified number of streams with effect from 2021/2022 session as follows:

  1. ND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology
  2. HND Science Laboratory Technology/Chemistry option
  3. HND Library and Information Science

PENDING APPROVAL TO COMMENCE PROGRAMMES

Accreditation for 4 new courses is however withheld, pending curative measure on certain equipment needs identified by the NBTE. The NBTE will be invited for Verification as soon as the remedial measure are put in place as follows:

  1. ND Mechanical Engineering Technology
  2. ND Civil Engineering Technology
  3. ND Quantity Surveying
  4. HND Architectural Technology

5. It is to be noted that curative measure are being taken to ensure approval for the 4.no Programmes as soon as possible.

6. Finally, It is to be noted also that:
i. 20.no Programmes were submitted for Accreditation out of which;
ii. 11no. Programmes were granted full Accreditation for 5 years with effect from 2021/2022 session.

iii. 2.no Programmes were granted Interim Accreditation for 1 year with effect from 2021/2022 session.
iv. 3.no Programmes were granted approval to commence
v. 4.no Programmes were were withheld, pending remedial measures which the Polytechnic is earnestly working to effect.

Rector appreciated His Execellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, Executive Governor of Nasarawa State and Visitor to the Polytechnic for the magnanimity of release of required funds for the exercise and for his personal encouragement and morale boosting Inspection Visits to the Polytechnic, which contributed immensely to achieving this feat in the history of the Polytechnic.

The Polytechnic also appreciates the Governing Council, under the Chairmanship of His Royal Highness (Dr) Sani Mohammed Bako III,(Emir of Karshi) for the support and enabling environment.

The Rector extended her appreciation to the Executive Secretary, National Board For Technical Education (NBTE) Prof. Idris Bugaji, Executive Secretary TETFund, Prof. Suleiman Bogoro, NBTE Resource persons, members of the Management, Academic Board, Deans, Heads of Departments, Staff and Students and indeed other stakeholders for their immense goodwill, support and hard work towards the overall success of the Accreditation exercise.
