Lamido of Adamawa receives insults from Atiku’s Supporters, as tension soaks Yola

Posted on February 8, 2022

Lamido of Adamawa insulted by Atiku’s PDP Supporters, generating massive tension in Yola.

By Sammy OJ

A brewing tension has enveloped Yola, the seat of Adamawa emirate over the weekend as a supporter of former Vice president Atiku Abubakar, Yusuf Babayola also known as Turaki Shinco poured invectives on Lamido of Adamawa, in a move to settle scores with a core supporter of president Muhammadu Buhari, Abdullahi Bako alias DDK.

In a viral audio clip, Turaki Shinco was heard raining expletives during a recorded phone conversation with Bako who is a staunch critic of Atiku Abubakar.

Sources told our reporter that Turaki Shinco was incenced by a hausa radio program aired by Nas FM in which Bako made very scathing comments against Atiku and said the former Vice president did not do anything for the state in his “eight wasted years” as VP.

During the tension soaked conversation, Bako was heard fervently trying to placate the furiously unremorseful Turaki Shinco who throughout the conversation poured invectives on Bako and his benefactors including wife of the president, Aisha Buhari her brother, Modi Halilu and Lamido of Adamawa himself.

Not done, Turaki Shinco who used derogatory and vulgar language against Lamido of Adamawa, threatened to deal with Bako for assaulting the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on radio adding that no body can save Bako from his fury and wrath.

Shinko’s vituperation as predicted drew the ire of the palace establishment as irate followers of the monarch rebuked him saying he will pay dearly for the show of impudence against the revered traditional ruler.

In a video clip which went viral, one Jamilu Wambai, a core Lamido of Adamawa supporter was heard tongue lashing Turaki Shinco for his highly disrespectful utterance and show of impudence against the Lamido.

Wambai who also poured expletives on Turaki Shinco called him a hypocrite who does not wish Atiku well.

“This hypocrite has told me on many occasions that he will leave Atiku’s camp as according to him the former VP was a selfish politician who only use and dump people.

“If Turaki Shinco was not a miserly ungrateful soul, he wouldn’t say anything against Lamido even for the sake of the olive branch and tremendous benevolence of Lamido’s son towards him.

“I will tell you Turaki Shinco that today you have entered into a trap that you will never get out of. Let me tell you the insults you hurled against Lamido will not affect his relationship between Lamido and Atiku Abubakar,” he said.

In another video clip that went viral, one of Lamido’s palace guards, Ahmadu Shattima also known as Ahmadu DC was heard threatening Turaki Shinco urging him not to dare attend any public function for his safety.

In a warning akin to eye for an eye, Shattima told Turaki Shinco that they also have arsenals of local weapons and can launch direct and indirect assault on him anytime.

He told Shinco that with his assault against Lamido, he has started a war that will not only consume him but will consume even his supporters.

Turaki Shinko arrainged in court remanded in prison custody

Meanwhile, Turaki Shinko, has been remanded in prison custody over his unguarded assault against the person of Lamido of Adamawa, HRH Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa.

The chief magistrate court I in Yola, Adamawa state ordered the remand of Turaki, in prison custody after he had pleaded guilty to the alleged offences on Monday.

The defendant was arraigned before the court on 3 count charges of cyber stalking, use of insulting or abusive language and inciting public disturbance.

The offences contravened section 24 of cyber crime prohibition and prevention act 2015 and sections 385 and 80 of penal code law of the state.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Iliya Akawu, told the court that the Commissioner of Police had on the 6th February, 2022 received a letter from Adamawa Emirate Council dated 5th February, 2022.

Inspector Iliya, said that the letter revealed that sometimes in February, 2022, Yusuf Babayola of sarkin wuta street shinco in Jimeta insulted the royal father while communicating on cell phone with one Bako D.D.K. of Yola south LGA.

According to him, the defendant used abusive, insultive, derogatory and heavy vulgar language such as ” duru uwarka” “buro ubanka”, “Lamido Barkindo ma ya ci duru uwar shi” among others.

He informed the court that the accused used such language against the person and integrity of Lamido Adamawa which is capable of inciting civil unrest and disturbance of public peace and order within and among his subjects.

He added that the insults had gone viral on social media thereby causing palpable tension in and around the state.

After the case was mentioned, counsel to the defendant, Ruth Gbah, applied for the bail of her client, saying that the offences for which the defendant is standing trial are bailable in nature.

Ruth, assured the court that if the defendant is released on bail, he will not jump bail or do anything that will undermine justice system, and urged it to use its discretion in favour of her client.

On his part, the prosecutor, Inspector Iliya Akawu, objected to the application for bail filed by counsel to the defendant, saying that there is tension in the state considering the personality involved, and prayed the court to refuse it.

The court presided by Chief Magistrate Abdullahi Muhammed Digil, adjourned the matter to the 8th February, 2022 for ruling on the bail application.

A magistrate court sitting in Yola has last year sentenced a PDP youth leader Ikamu Hamisu Kato to two year jail term for insulting the Secretary to the government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha and president Muhammadu Buhari.

In another vein, another magistrate court has last year jailed one Ali Numan to two and half year jail term for calling governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri the father of all thieves.
