The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) Bauchi Zonal Office has charged students of Government Day Comprehensive Secondary School Bakari Dukku to inculcate the habit of saving in order to secure a better future.
Zonal Controller of NDIC Bauchi Zone (comprising Bauchi, Gombe and Plateau States) Ajiya Bah Zarma, on Thursday, said that NDIC organized the programme for students to commemorate the World Saving Day 2022.
He noted that the NDIC have started the renovation of 21 blocks of classrooms in the school to make the learning environment conducive for students of the school.
“World Savings Day is being celebrated annually all over the world to create awareness on savings and it’s a creation of Bankers Committee.
“The choice of the school was by the government. We wrote a letter to them that we want to celebrate World Savings Day and that they should give us a school they would want to renovate and they chose this school.
“We are renovating about 21 classrooms. Before this time, if you saw this school, you would nearly shed tears because the school was dilapidated. However, this is part of our intervention. It’s the little we can do to encourage, particularly female students.
“The reason we brought the programme to this school is because we want to catch them young. When you inculcate the habit of saving among children, there are lots of benefits. Savings stimulates investment, production and employment along with other multiplier effects that brings development,” he said.
