…PTDF shortlists candidates for 2022 overseas scholarships

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) has selected 8,800 individuals from over 26,000 applicants for this year’s Overseas Scholarship Scheme, OSS, as part of its efforts to increase Nigerians’ potential to work in the oil and gas business.

The PTDF OSS is a yearly scholarship program that provides Nigerians scholarships to study MSc and PhD programs at partner universities in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, China, and Malaysia.

Mr. Bello Mustapha, Manager, Overseas Scholarship Scheme, PTDF, said the process for this year’s selection began in December 2021 and would see qualified students questioned across centers in Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Kaduna, and Bauchi.

“Over 26,000 people applied for the scholarship, and over 8000 were chosen to come in for interviews,” he stated.

“We normally do interviews in all six geopolitical zones of the country, but this year we are only conducting them in five geopolitical zones due to insecurity in the Southeast.”

Candidates in the Southeast have been instructed to choose centers outside of the region in order to participate in the interview process, according to Mustapha.

“We gave them emails allowing them to choose any center.” You can choose any center you wish in any of the geopolitical zones we have. You may be in the South East and elect to do it in Abuja, or you could go to Lagos.
